Fortnite has evolved from a tower-defense survival game to the world’s most popular battle royale, virtual concert host, and developer playground. Now Epic Games is introducing a new title into the groundbreaking Fortnite ecosystem: LEGO Fortnite.
We had the opportunity to get an early hands-on experience to get a small, yet very promising taste of Epic’s new offering to the world of Fortnite.
LEGO Fortnite introduces the creativity of LEGO to Fortnite’s virtual canvas. The new free-to-play game lets players stretch their imagination, whether it’s creating the ultimate LEGO world or venturing out to the mysterious bricky unknown. Adventures come in two flavors: Survival and Creative.
Survival throws players into a world where the goal is to become an explorer and innovator. This mode is all about taking a multitude of LEGO playsets, combining them, and making a massive play experience. The world is wonderfully huge and presents enticing possibilities that keep your creative juices and sense of adventure flowing. It always feels like there’s something new to discover and progress toward, whether it’s unlocking a new lava-filled underground biome or finding a giant rock-covered desert creature.
Another main goal in Survival is to create your village, complete with tool-creating machinery, crops, and villagers to work jobs. The village system shines here with you unlocking more villagers to grow your settlement and eventually adventure on your behalf. Your imagination may lead to builds beyond simple towns, like perhaps a flying fortress held up by balloons, or a buoyant settlement floating on the sea.
Creative mode ratchets up imagination further, presenting players with a complete sandbox to play in. The amount of freedom in crafting here is wild. Creation mirrors your real-life LEGO options, either following instructions for a preset build or freestyle crafting something original from the ground up? The game physics are a delightful blend of grounded and cartoonish. Big builds might wobble under their own weight like in real life, whereas explosions send bricks flying dramatically.I’m excited to see what types of complex contraptions players create with this impressive toolset.
You can play both of LEGO Fortnite’s modes for free in Fortnite starting today.

Roam the streets of Tilted Towers with Shopping Carts, grapple to Greasy Groves, and pack nostalgia with the original Assault Rifle. Grab your friends and drop into Fortnite OG in both Battle Royale and Zero Build!
The past is now
We’re going back in time in Fortnite OG! Each major update represents a different phase of Chapter 1 — some of what’s unvaulted in each update will remain for that update, be in more than one update, or stay for the rest of Fortnite OG. Get pumped: everything below is just partof what’ll be unvaulted.
Season 5 update (Nov 3): A Tale of Tilted Towers, Greasy Grove, and Risky Reels
Titled Towers was a POI that was around for much of Chapter 1, and it’s returning in Fortnite OG!
Worlds collided in Season 5… and so did All Terrain Karts! Take up weapons, Traps, and vehicles that were present in the original Season 5:
Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and Hunting Rifle
A few of the greatest hits have been unvaulted!
Damage Trap, Grappler, and Boogie Bomb
Re-create some of your best eliminations.
Shopping Cart and All Terrain Kart
Not ALL vehicles need engines.
Season 6 update (Nov 9): The Darkness Rises in Loot Lake
Darkness Rises again in Loot Lake. Deliver frights with weapons, Traps, and vehicles that were in the original Season 6. For your delights, check out some of what’ll be unvaulted:
Double Barrel Shotgun, Clinger, and Six Shooter
Fittingly, the Six Shooter debuted in Season 6.
Chiller Trap, Port-a-Fortress, and Mounted Turret
Have cold feet enough? The Chiller Trap and Mounted Turret won’t be in Zero Build.
Quadcrasher and Driftboard
The Driftboard wasn’t introduced until Season 7, but it’ll first be available in Fortnite OG during the Season 6 update.
Seasons 7 & 8 update (Nov 16): Of Chill and Treasure
What’s cooler than Chiller Traps? An ice-cold snow biome! This snow biome included the famed Frosty Flights. Pirate camps appeared on the Island following the polar temperatures, and a range of swashbuckling gear was on the map to employ:
Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, and Quad Launcher
Take blast from the past literally.
Poison Dart Trap, Itemized Glider Redeploy, and Buried Treasure
With the unvaulted Buried Treasure, unearth some loot (the Poison Dart Trap will not be in Zero Build).
X-4 Stormwing and Pirate Cannon
Evade the Storm with a Stormwing, as Sgt. Winter would do.
Seasons 9 & X update (Nov 23): Blast Off!
Dive into the past future that was Season 9 and the destabilizing world that was Season X. Seasons 9 and X had a lot of stuff that will return in November 23’s update — here’s just a few:
Heavy Sniper Rifle, Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike, and Junk Rift
Finish Fortnite OG strong with these weapons!
Storm Flip and Jetpack
The Storm Flip and Jetpack return to defy natural order. Fun fact: Season 9’s The Final Showdown event had players using Jetpacks to witness a fight of epic proportions.
Put your best roll forward — The Baller makes its triumphant return.
